SEO for architects
In this video, I’ll be going over SEO for architects. So before I dive into exactly what you need to know about SEO for architecture, first of all, who am I? My name’s Zukais, and I’m an SEO consultant. And all this means is I grow businesses by ranking them on Google. So let’s get straight into it.
So first of all, what is SEO, and why is it important? So many of you probably already know this, but just in case you don’t, SEO simply stands for search engine optimization. And it’s simply the act of finding searches related to your business and ranking for them. So you’re an architect in London, so you’d want to rank for something like architect in London. And of course, you’d want to make sure that that search term has volume to it, right, and then you’d rank on Google for it.
And the major benefit, of course, is when you’re ranking on it, you’ll get visitors, and then those visitors will turn into leads, and then those leads will turn into clients, right. So that’s pretty much it. Pretty simple and pretty straightforward. So the first thing you’re going to want to do is actually create a well-designed website. And this might seem obvious, and you might think you already have a well-designed website, but you see, the thing is, a lot of people skip over this part, and their website is just really subpar. It’s just really badly designed. It’s not set up for conversions.
And even though these companies earn quite a bit of money, not many of them invest in a well-designed website, even though this website could generate them more revenue, right. So that’s the first thing you need to do, create a well-designed website. And here’s an example of a bad designed website. And this is actually common amongst architects and interior designers.
Just a really crappy website, which is funny, because they specialize in design, but their web design is just bad, pretty much. So you don’t want something like this. Ideally, something like this. This is actually not an architect website or an interior design website. This is an electrician’s website, and it’s pretty good. It’s optimized for conversions. And as you can see, just going through them, through the slides, what the page looks like, right.
So you’ve got testimonials. You’ve got the color schemes going well, right. You’ve got a yellow going in, yellow here, yellow there. And it’s just overall a really well-designed website. Now what’s too obsessed web design? Now this is where people get too obsessed by their web design, but they don’t want anything to touch it, right, they don’t want to change at all.
And it’s actually really bad for SEO, because I see some architects now actually are refusing to put content on their website. If you’re not going to do that, it’s going to make it extremely hard for you to rank, and it’s going to make the time for you to rank a hell of a lot longer. Normally it takes about a solid six months to rank, and they could push it all the way to 12 months, even moreso, right.
So don’t get too obsessed with your web design. You just need a basic and clean design website. And yeah, that’s pretty much it. So next up, you need to do the right keyword research. So all keyword research is is finding search terms related to your business, in a data-driven way. So again, finding search terms related to your business. So you’re an architect in Birmingham, so you could do something like that, architect in Birmingham.
Excuse me, man. So architect in Birmingham, like I was saying. Best architects in Birmingham, architects in, and then you can name an area in Birmingham, right. It could be architect in Birmingham East. Sorry, architect in London, East London, South London, architect in Chelsea. So you’re just going to target the right areas. And make sure there’s actually volume there, because there’s no point going for a search term which has no volume. That’s just a major waste of time.
So next up is, again, this is just some of the keyword research I did. So London architecture has approximately 1,000 to 10,000 searches a month. Architect, just the word architect, 10,000 to 100,000 searches. Home architecture, 100 to 1,000 searches a month. And yeah, you get the point, right. And the tool I’m using here is the Google Keyword Planner, and it’s free to use. So next up is you’re going to create your service pages, right. What services do you offer? So it’s obviously architect.
What do you do, residential architect, commercial architect? And you’re going to create landing pages dedicated to your services, right. So next up is you’re going to create supporting content. This is going to help your rank and make your website look a lot more relevant in the eyes of Google, right. So you can have your service pages there, but adding supporting content is going to go a long way, right. So this is basically just blogging, right..
